Abram visits Egypt
Now there was a famine in the land .So Abram went down to Egypt. As Ur of the Chaldeans was a delta so the famine had never plagued the city. And Abram never had faced famine .God had never told Abram to go to Egypt. He had decided it on its own. God only command was to go to the promise land.
As they were about to enter Egypt. He said to his wife Sarai, " I know what a beautiful woman you are. When the Egyptians see you, they will say,' This is his wife.'Then they will kill me but let you live. There for say you are my sister, so that I will be treated well for your sake and my life will be spared because of you."
As they reached Egypt, the Egyptians saw how beautiful she was. And when the Pharoah's Officials saw her ,they sang her praises to Pharoah. So she was taken into his Harem. And due to her Abram was treated quite well. He also acquired sheep and cattle, male and female donkeys, men servants and maidservants, and camel.
But the Lord God send terrible plague on Pharoah and his household because of Abrams wife Sarai. So Pharoah summoned Abram and said to him, " Why didn't you tell she was your wife ? Why did you say that she was your sister? Why were you willing to let marry her, saying she was your sister? Now then, here is your wife. Take her and go! ". Then Pharaoh gave orders about Abram to his men, and they sent him on his way, with his wife and everything he had.
Application
- God bless obidence.
- Half a lie is still a lie. Due to his lie how many people had suffered .
- Even after this whole incident God didn't forget the promise. He had made to Abram. He saved Sarai from Pharoah.
Remember He never forgets His promise.
