Sodom and Gamorrah

Then the men stood up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom. Abharam went with them part of their way. Then the Lord said " Shall I hide from Abharam what I am about to do? For Abharam shall become a mighty nation and he will be the source of blessing for all the nations of the earth. I have picked him out to have Godly household. They will be men who are just and good so that I can do for him all I have promised." So the Lord God told Abharam, "I have heard  that people of Sodom and Gamorrah are very evil. All that they do is wicked. I will go down to see if these reports are true or not. Then I will know." I will go down. The result would be judgement(tower of Babel)  God also comes down to redeem (Exodus 3:8 "so I have come down to rescue them from the hand of the Egyptians"). This phrase is  a denial of God's infinite knowledge but a figurative way of stating that He does not act out of ignorance or on the bases of mere complaints.

So the other two went on toward Sodom. But God remained with Abharam for a while. Then Abharam said to Him, "will you sweep away both righteous and wicked? Suppose there are 50 righteous people there in the city will you destroy it and not spare it for their sakes?" That wouldn't be right! Surely you wouldn't do such a thing, to kill righteous with wicked! Why, you would be treating Godly and the wicked same! Surely you wouldn't do that! Sould not the judge of all the earth be fair?"

God replied " if I find 50 righteous people there, I will spare the entire city for their sake." Then Abharam spoke again. "Since I have begun, let me go on and speak further to the Lord, though I am  dust and ashes. What if there are only 45? Will you destroy the city for the lack of five?" And God replied "I will not destroy it if I find 45". This dialogue continued until the number reached 10. Abharam was God's friend. And thus he was given an opportunity to speak in front of  God to intercede for the righteousness of Sodom and Gamorrah. And then God went away when He had finished His talk with Abharam and he went back to his tent.

Application
-Now here we do know that Abharam is worried about his nephew Lot and his family and due to that he pleades the Lord to spare Sodom and Gamorrah. So what can we learn from the case of Abharam? Do we pray for the safety of our friends and family?
- As we can see the relationship between God and Abharam was like  friends and God didn't hide His motives from Abharam. So as a friend of Christ we shouldn't hide anything from God as well and talk to Him via prayer everyday.
- God doesn't get angry even when Abharam tries to bargain. This shows God's humbleness
.
